The Web of Life

Hello everyone,

This blog update is coming after quite long. However, rest assured the blog updates are going to be weekly now on wards so stay tuned for more fresh topics.

Seeing the title you must be wondering what do I mean or would be intending to convey through this blog post…

Well, read along to satiate this curiosity of yours.

All of us embark upon this journey of life from the moment we coo for the first and make our sound register in this vast universe. Question is that is the starting point of something called life but if you are supposed to describe what life is in qualitative terms, how would you describe it?

My take on this is:
Keeping it simple, Life is the time span between an individual’s birth and death.
A person is born and then he/she dies – what happens in between is what one shall call life in qualitative terms as that is what people, the world and your loved ones will remember you for.

Now its my strong belief that life, of an individual generally seems pretty simple however, if you look from a bird’s eye perspectives there is a lot more to it.

All the incidents that take place in one’s life aren’t events that one can look at in an isolated manner and there is always lot more to it. Everything of it is Interconnected, one just needs to gaze deeply and the details are right in front of them.

Events in ones life might seem separate but they are deeply interconnected through the previous experiences a person has gone through. All those past experiences set the tone for a persons life with or without them realising it.
One event can be connected to another and you might open up new opportunities for you.

Apart from events we as individuals are also connected to each other. Its just that by being bound to peripheral vision and getting lost in the everyday hassles of life, one often loses the sight of how deeply everything and everyone is connected and life is much more then just something happening to them

We as humans often rely on other individuals to share our joy, happiness, loneliness and sorrows..

An example to showcase this would be the movie Cast Away – In which the protagonist working for a courier company gets stranded to an island after surviving an Air plane crash which was carrying courier cargo. At first he survives by the goods that drift ashore through the crash, creates a makeshift shelter, searches for food and lives on by himself.

All of this happens, few weeks pass by and the loneliness starts to creep in…
the loneliness takes existence inside him because of lack of human contact for a considerable period of time. Then the luck plays in his favour and a soccer ball comes ashore as a package of courier cargo. It brightens him up as he has a thing to spend time with…

To put an end to the loneliness he creates a Smiley on the soccer ball and starts having conversations with him on a regular basis and sees it as a friend.
This makes it easier for him to spend time on the island till someone comes to rescue him from the island.

The incident we talked about clearly explains how we as individuals rely on others humans to share and rejoice our happiness and sorrows for better emotional fulfilment and support.

Sharing a quote mentioned in the movie, as found it inspiring

On a concluding note I would say Life is an experience and journey unique to each one with interconnected events wherein we will come across various people who will again be interconnected to us in some way or other.

All in all like a spider spins its web so does life too…..A WEB OF EVENTS and PEOPLE…..

A WEB OF LIFE

One doesn’t go without the other

Resuming blogging back after a long time….

Was in search of a great topic and was occupied with several things.

The blog will be updated weekly now, so that I can give my readers fresh content and a new perspective.

The title of this post may lead you to a lot of questions…..  as in what am I quoting here or who is it that am referring to!

Well, read along to satiate that curiosity of yours………

At some point in life, every individual would have faced an adverse circumstance, which may strongly impact their viewpoint towards life and can have various implications.  The dictionary definiton of adversity is a difficult or unpleasant situation. The definition certainly sounds meaningful, however, adversity is defined differently by different individuals depending on what they are going through and what seems as unpleasant to them.

These circumstances which an individual goes through can either act very harsh on them or either can make them better, its either or, there isnt any grey area.

During adverse times, A person can develop a hard, pessimistic outlook towards life or he can use optimism to move ahead and work hard to make the adverse times of his life better.

Often people say, that optimism just a perspective, I believe its more than that!

Its a belief which an individual can hold onto. The belief which will help him swim across the currents of adversity in this journey of life.

When a person is faced with adverse circumstances, being optimistic about things and moving ahead with a vision helps. A vision to better things then in their current scenario.

The need to communicate effectively

Ever happened with you – trying to explain an idea or topic to someone but they are not able to get a hold of it?

Intend to find out why it happens?? then read along..

Often times while talking we may not communicate our thoughts effectively to the other person, which in turn leaves space for ambiguity in the conversation. Ambiguity occurs when a said statement has more than one meaning and can be interpreted differently by two different people. When you dont communicate effectively, you may leave a space for ambiguity in the conversation, which increases the burden on the other person to understand and grasp what you are saying.

For example, while explaining a concept of a subject to your friend, you may be explaining the concept from the level of your understanding and might leave out explaning certain things assuming that they are self explanatory. The self explanatory part becomes the ambigous element in the conversation and your friend might interpret it in their own manner.
Due to the ambiguity, they may not understand the concept properly.

How ambiguity in conversation looks like:

I believe its essential for us to be clear and unambigous while communicating an idea or topic if we look forward to communicate effectively with anyone.

Comfort Zone

The term ‘Comfort Zone’ is defined in the dictionary as “A situation where one feels at comfort or at ease.” Every one of us confine ourselves to these comfort zones in order to make our life more comfortable and easier.
So let’s say if a certain someone in your life tells you to or makes you come out of comfort zone, what would your initial reaction be??
Generally, people’s reaction can be somewhat similar to this:
Of course, the answers would also range from what, why should I do it? to I am not going to do it.
Even the first thought of getting yourself out of the comfort zone would start making you feel awry.

Curious enough to know why does this happen?? Keep on reading

Comfort zone is like a stagnation in one’s life and one of the core reason why people fear to get out of it because they are fearful. Fear their long-standing ideals and beliefs being challenged. They feel that even if they try new things it might put them into situations that they don’t have control over. This feeling, in turn, supports their idea of being fearful in the first place. As a result, they never take the leap or make that change which can actually benefit them immensely.
Also, in a general sense its difficult for humans at large to develop a new perspective or even see things from a different point of view.
However, there are several benefits if one does take the leap ignoring the fear of learning a new way or being in a  situation which they may not be acquainted with.

A person who gets out of his usual way of approaching things may find himself more productive. As comfort generally kills productivity. As we may start working according to how we may feel at ease and that may limit our ability to do work. Hence, it helps to extend our individual boundaries and even find new ways to work.

Leaning new skills or enriching oneself with new experiences gives might help the person new insight towards it. Also, it results in questioning old ideas and beliefs and gaining new knowledge, thus taking us away from confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is our tendency to only seek out information which we already agree with, which further results in us not learning anything new.

You just got to step outside of your comfort zone for once. As only doing it for the first time is difficult. after that, you get used to it and what initially you used to spark a feeling of fear and anxiety would be now replaced with a zeal and enthusiasm to learn new things.

A quote by Andrew Murphy says “We are only confined by the walls we build ourselves.” Which means we ourselves limit what we can do and what we cant. Henceforth, instead of confining oneself, one should take the leap and keeping aside the feeling of fear and come out of the comfort zone.

On an ending note, this quote sums all up:

The need to see it Clearly!

Resuming the blog post after a long time! was in search of a perfect topic and was also busy with work!

This blog post is connected to the previous blog post of Information overload. Hence, I would suggest that people who have not read that go back and read it so as to gain a better understanding of what I would be trying to convey.

In today’s era of the digital world we are highly overloaded with information from various sources.
The end result of this is a disorientation from our goal and a lack of focus. Both of which in turn leads to us not achieving our goals and in turn not making us happy. Disorientation and lack of focus both go hand in hand, that is first lack of focus occurs and then the disorientation from the goal takes place thus its a chained process. If we pay attention when and where the focus starts diverting then the disorientation in itself can be stopped.

It is easier said then done so what is the way that you think will help you to stay organized and efficient?

The answer is Clarity!

The very existence of lack of focus suggests that you are fed in with information from lot of sources at once and also set targets to complete quite an amount of tasks. However, there is not a specific plan for that. Lack of planning leads to confusion and and confusion then leads to lack of focus. Disorientation falls through after this.
The first step towards attaining overall clarity to achieve your goals is to organize and plan out the tasks that you want to complete and last but not the least filter out the information you get.

Is Change a necessity?

Change is something which all of us undergo through all our life. As human beings we constantly keep on evolving(Changing). This process of evolution can be categorized into a very broad context, be it in the way of learning new ways to do tasks or to develop new skills to replace them with the obsolete ones. Knowingly or unknowingly it does exist to an extent into all aspects of an individual’s lives.

So if Change does have an impact on an individual’s lives depending on the basis of how he views that specific change, the question arises is there any necessity to Change and if yes then why?
There are many things that we do or observe in our daily lives in a regular manner. Now these things occur in a set pattern and anything that obstructs the pattern creating a new one can be termed as the meaning of word change in actuality. Perspective plays a huge role in how we view this new pattern created in our lives, from person to person the perspective would change and so would the feeling associated with the final outcome of the pattern. Thus depending on this factor it would be told out as a negative or positive change.

Having known the factor that affects change, now lets talk about necessity. As I mentioned earlier that we as human beings constantly keep on evolving, because of this very reason change is inevitable. Anything which has been going on from a long period of time in a set pattern without any obstruction shows in itself the nature of it being stagnant. Any stagnant thing going on without a logical explanation is surely unproductive and highly degrading in nature. Thus if a pattern needs to be broken and change needs to come in the picture then be it, it cant continue long enough in such a stagnant manner. As it wont take people following that old pattern anywhere and wont make them learn anything new. So often times it maybe correct to question old ways of doing things and if need be then also change it.

It often times can be shaped and defined highly by individual perspective, a person might think of a specific change as good or bad depending on what perspective he holds towards it. If he used to think as the pattern set by him in his daily lives as normal then an obstruction in it would surely be defined as a bad change. However, its a high possibility that people around him might expect that change in him. From the people’s perspective it might sum up to be a good change.

Lastly, as the image states changing your perspective, changes your experience. Your perspective toward anything highly influences how you value and define that thing. As a great man once said, “Change how you see the world and the world you see will change.” Again all these are my views on the topic, feel free to comment your views as well.

Aspirations!

All of us as human beings have an aspiration to do something productive with our life, which is actually a good sign and shows that our life is moving in a correct and constructive direction. It is necessary to have a clearly defined goal in your life and a strong desire to achieve that goal. The feeling of strong desire to achieve the goal you have set forth for yourself in itself is known as aspiration.

When we go ahead on the path of achieving the goals we set for ourselves, its always necessary that we fuel ourselves with enough motivation to reach that goals. Once, we start the journey towards achieving our goals its necessary for us to keep the required strength and courage and not to back down until and uptil the task which we started for gets completed. To set an aspiration, have a strong desire towards it and constantly working to achieve the goal will help you to get what you are aspiring for. Hence, One should always stay dedicated towards what he has set forth for as there is literally no point in doing a task if you are not putting in your 100 percent of effort into it.

As the above image states your aspirations are also different possibilities of what you can do with your life. All of us have different aspirations for ourselves and they only mean what better can we do to our lives in one manner or the other by achieving those aspirations and move ahead in this journey called life! Again these are all my views on this specific topic, please do also communicate your views by commenting here.

Information Overload!!

In this world of digitisation and evolving technology, our brains are constantly being fed with a lot of information at a unmanageable rate on daily basis. When we receive so much of it then I believe, we should take time once in awhile to process & analyze all of it so as to avoid any disruption in daily lives. Most of this information which we receive comes from multiple sources — like Social media, Newspaper, Friends, Relatives, Television etc.

So ever thought how all of this information causes disruption? Well I assume that not even for the slightest moment you would have thought of this possibility. As we all know how our mind works; like at the fraction of second it keeps changing thoughts, like at one instant you would be thinking of the various sounds you hear coming from outside and suddenly your thoughts take a turn and you engross into thinking about any other event or start observing anything else. Basically all the time you are awake, your mind constantly undergoes some sort of mental activity, be it through any means.

Of Course the mind does undergo constant mental activity all day long, however, we need to find out which are the constructive ones and which of them help us achieve our goals. When we get information from so many multiple sources, its a high possibility that while working on a task we may get distracted to another topic. For e.g. you are studying with full concentration & suddenly you cellphone buzzes; when you open your phone to check it, the display shows you have got a new post in your news feed from a page you follow. Now you open your social media account to check it, however, instead of checking that single post you keep on scrolling your news feed as you think there must be some important post by any of the people you follow and you may have missed out. Assuming it takes at least twenty minutes of yours while your are doing this wherein you divert from you actual objective of studying. Again checking social media is not bad, however, doing so in between an already ongoing activity can disrupt your state of mind in turn making it difficult for you to focus. As there will be a great amount of thoughts going on in your mind from the initial information you received from checking the social media. Not all of this stuff you read from social media will be benefitting you in actuality, lets say only a minimal amount from it will actually matter and would be of any constructive purpose. Herein, if we analyze all the the information we received and only take in what is useful, there wont be any jumble of thoughts at all.

As stated in the quote; if talked in terms of actuality in terms of our day to day lives then it simply means that we should take information from everywhere as this is a sign of an open mind, however, accept only that is useful. For sure discard all the irrelevant information which is taking up space in our mind & in the end add some our own input to the useful information which we just collected.
Again these are just my views on this topic, feel free to share your views through comments.

Hapiness

Happiness where IS IT?

So before giving my views on happiness and why most of the people aren’t still able to find happiness and be happy. I would like to ask you to put a question to yourself and think for a moment, what is the source that gives you this eerie feeling like butterflies in your stomach. Well, whatever object or action that gives you this feeling is what makes you happy.

Everyone has a different source of that eerie feeling. An action which gives one person the feeling of oneness and wholesomeness compulsorily need not be the same for another person. Again here perspective plays a great ROLE. Perspective comes into the picture here as in how an individual views a situation on the basis of whether or not it gives him happiness. Human beings indirectly tend to see everything from psychological perspective. That is when an individual decides to do an action he or she is not directly concerned with but is instead concerned with the end result that event will give. That event or action is just the medium through which the person will get the feeling of happiness. For example, If there is a certain game which you enjoy to play a lot on daily basis, the game is not in itself giving you happiness but the action of playing it does give you momentarily joy. Here, the moments you enjoy while playing the game is what is making you happy in reality.

Other than that One person’s source of feeling happy need not be necessarily another person’s source because as human beings we all differ from each other, talk differently, walk differently, think differently etc. Due to this there is a high possibility of people’s ideologies conflicting with each other. Its just that people have to understand and adjust each other’s individual needs and there will be way for peace and harmony. All in all only you, yourself have the power to make you happy, though the stimuli to happiness maybe due to external things, however happiness due to that stimuli still comes from the within. Hence, if you want to be happy intrinsically, external stimuli will work as a medium in that goal however, if there is no feeling only to be happy from the inner self then no amount of external stimuli can make a person happy. As a wise man once said “Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you chose to be happy.”

Our most Valuable Asset!!

I assume that just by reading the title of this second blog post, many of you would be already pondering upon what would I describe as a most valuable asset to us. So let’s get it straight, this valuable asset is available to all of us and is common to everyone, whether they are rich or poor.
It is Time, yes people time is one’s most valuable asset as it is something which we can never gain back.
We all have  this asset provided to ourselves equally, regardless of whether we are rich or poor, young or old. It is same that is everyone of us gets 24 hours everyday and by our freewill we decide how will we spend our time and also whom we will spend it with; but in making this decision of how to spend our time we sometimes happen to make a mistake and happen to loose our precious time which sadly we can’t gain back and start blaming others and wondering about how did we make such a huge mistake.
As the quote in this image says that time is the most valuable thing a man can spend, why don’t we organize our time and use it carefully instead of just letting it go. The question here is that if we are so knowledgeable and do understand the importance of time what happens to us in our daily lives when we spend a great amount of time behind the things that don’t matter at all and invest a limited amount of time behind the things that do matter to us the most (our goals , our dreams etc).
I feel the main reason, that we end up investing our time into not so important issues is because we are given the illusion that time is something which we have in abundance for ourselves whereas its otherwise. This illusion is given to us by the things which we are addicted to or the things which we do but aren’t that important in actuality. For instance, let’s say a person is addicted to spending time on social media posting updates, commenting and chatting; so this person will feel that the way he is spending his time is perfect for him as he has developed a habit to spend time like that hence, he stays under this illusion wasting a quite an amount of time. Until and uptil this person will break his habit of spending time on social media and replace it with something useful, he won’t realize that the way he was spending his valuable time initially was wrong. This was a an example, however, many of us do end up spending a lot of time on social media and not focus on things which do matter to us in actuality.
As I mentioned earlier that all of us are provided with equal amount of time (24 hours a day) and it’s our free will on how we spend it. I believe if we spend (manage) our time properly, all of us can achieve great feats. History has been a witness that whoever had spent their time wisely was successful. This was my perspective towards what a our most valuable asset is, Do let me know through comments what is your perspective regarding time being our most valuable asset.
